Frequently asked questions

What is TP Scout?

TP Scout is a research tool for transfer pricing advisory firms and in-house teams. It automates the website review in a comparables study: for every company on your list, it finds the company's website, checks that the company owns it, captures screenshot evidence and writes a short summary of the company's business activity.

Who is TP Scout for?

Transfer pricing professionals. Consultancy firms use it to add capacity without dropping standards. In-house TP and tax teams use it for control, consistency and retained know-how.

What input does TP Scout need?

An .xlsx export from Orbis, with a sheet named Companies and the BvD column names: company name, address, city, country, BvD ID, NACE and website. You name the project and pick the summary language, and the company list builds itself.

Can we bring our existing benchmarks?

Yes. At onboarding, we import all your existing benchmarking data, so you can reuse it automatically without researching those companies again.

What does TP Scout do for each company?

It checks the company's website against the company's tax ID, registered address and name. Where the export lists no usable website, it searches for one and holds it to a stricter standard. It then crawls the accepted website, screenshots up to 20 activity pages, and writes a summary of at most four sentences in the language you chose, one of 43.

How does TP Scout prove that a website belongs to the company?

It looks for three identity signals on the website: the tax ID, the address and the company name. A website is accepted on the strongest proof found, and a grade records which proof that was: A+ (tax ID and address), A (tax ID), B (street and city), C (company name and city), D (company name and site language) or F (rejected, with a written reason). A name-only match is the weakest proof and is accepted only when nothing stronger turns up.

What evidence does TP Scout keep?

For every company, it keeps the match grade, screenshots of the website's activity pages and the rationale behind the decision. A rejected company gets a written reason and, where there is one, a screenshot of the website listed in the export. You export the results as a spreadsheet, with a ZIP holding a screenshot of every website.

Can analysts change the results?

Yes. Your analysts stay in control. They can replace any website with their own choice, edit any summary before export, and re-run a single company.

How is our data handled?

Each customer runs on its own database. For questions about data processing and security, contact us.
